Community Service:

The Mt Zion Fire Company is a volunteer organization that is very much involved with their community.  Not only do we fight fires, perform vehicle and other rescues, assist with EMS calls, and handle hazardous conditions, we also host and help with community events throughout the year.

2021, October 31: Halloween

Once again, Mt Zion Fire teamed up with the Harding-Mt Zion Ambulance to pass out candy to numerous ghosts, superheroes, skeletons, unicorns, and princesses.  This night of community interaction is one that we truly enjoy.

2021, July 10: Touch-A-Truck at the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport

Mt Zion Tanker 1 with Assistant Chief John Tillman and Vice President Ricky Lyons participated with a fundraiser for the Pittston Township K-9 Officer Sasha.  The Touch-A-Truck was hosted by the Wilkes-Barre Scranton International Airport.  Emergency vehicles were there along with airport equipment, large towing/recovery vehicles, tractor trailers, and airplanes.

2020, April 11: Easter Parade

With all the COVID-19 concerns and "social distancing," personal from the Mt. Zion Fire Company, Exeter Township Police, and the Harding Mt. Zion Ambulance decided to put together an Easter parade.  We criss-crossed many of the streets of Harding, giving out Easter baskets and candy to many children in our town. We wanted to encourage and bless the residents of Harding. We discovered that we were the ones who were truly blessed and encouraged. We saw so many smiling faces, waving people, and happy children. Some folks even have us gifts of drinks and hand sanitizer! These are photos taken by some of our members and by some residents.

We are truly thankful on this Easter to celebrate Christ's resurrection and for such a wonderful people in the town we serve.

2019, October 23: Wyoming Area Bonfire

Mt Zion Rescue Pumper and Tanker 1 participated in the parade and bonfire for our Wyoming Area Warriors!  The pallets were difficult to get started, but after some firefighting ingenuity, the fire was blazing with the help of a positive pressure fan.  Other emergency services there were Exeter Fire, Wyoming Fire, Harding Mt Zion EMS, Greater Pittston Regional Ambulance, and police departments from Exeter, West Pittston, West Wyoming, and Wyoming.

2019, October 19-20: Mt Zion Fire helps one of its own

Personnel from Mt Zion Fire, Harding Fire, and the Harding Mt Zion Ambulance came together to help our Mt Zion Fire Captain and his wife (also a member at Mt Zion) with a new roof for their home. Our fire captain is a Vietnam veteran who proudly served his country. We want to give a big thank you to 84 Lumber and Luzerne Lumber for donating shingles, plywood, and other roofing materials. Also, a big thank you to Kava Korner on Carverton Road in Trucksville for donating lunch for the volunteer roofers.

Halloween 2018, Trick or Treat!

Every year since 2000, Mt Zion Fire has joined up with the Harding Mt Zion Ambulance to give away candy on Halloween.  We love seeing all the ghosts, goblins, ferries, dinosaurs, and firefighters trick or treating with their families.

Halloween Trick or Treat 2017

The Mt Zion Fire Company along with the Harding Mt Zion Community Ambulance enjoyed handing out bags of candy to the children in Harding.  We had the opportunity to meet up with many ghosts, goblins, turtles, Sesame Street characters, a PA state trooper, a future firefighter, and many other characters.  It was so great to see everyone out.
